I got to visit my assisted living pals this week. Like us, they were near mandatory evacuation and evacuation warning zones during the big wildfires, but it never spread near to them.
They were having a quiet morning. There was a senior workout program on the TV but no one was paying attention to it. Most people were napping. Off in the far area of the big room, a lady in a wheelchair was meowing. So my human took me over to her. She only spoke Spanish, but it didn’t matter. She was happy to see me and pet me.
A staff member was helping fix a bracelet belonging to the lady who loves my high fives. Once they were done, I went over to visit with her. And yes, of course I gave her some high fives. I actually shook paws and did high fives for several patients this visit.
I saw my elderly lady friend for a while. She was sitting on the sofa next to the nonverbal woman who loves me. But the nonverbal woman was sleeping and never did wake up while I was there.
While I was visiting someone else, another woman came in, and when she saw me she sat down on the other side of the doorway. She was obviously waiting for me! In fact, she made sure to tell one of the staff that she was next. Of course she was, and we went right over to her as soon as we were done. And that was a nice visit.
We also stopped by the other house across the street, and it was a little more lively. There were animal videos on the TV, and a lot of people who loved cats. I had a very nice time, and it was a good break from all the craziness that has been going on during the past week.
